Tuneful Tuesday?
Travis has this thing going where he does a My Town Monday and now a Tuneful Tuesday and I'm going to still his idea for TT and use it here and maybe that will lubricate the ol' muse and get me going.
So, the rules he put in his post are you must "post two lines from something I've read and two from my own work." The last book I read, which was just last night, was Brian's Winter by Gary Paulsen. Brian's Winter is the sequel to Hatchet and my boys and I love the entire series.
Here are the two lines from Brian's Winter:
Half a beat and Brian lay still, starting up at the bear. But now a new smell, over the smell of the bear, a rank, foul, sulfurous and gagging smell as the bear turned a took a full shot of skunk spray directly in the eyes.
This part of the book is one of my favorites because the skunk, whom Brian has befriended by throwing it meat when it shows up, with its tail lifted to spray, for food. He doesn't like the skunk because he feels blackmailed: feed it or be sprayed. But when the skunk, named Betty, saves him from the bear he chuckles and thinks he now has "a pet nuclear device."
Now, for two lines from the book that I'm working on and that my muse is hiding from:
Dick continued to pace with in his confines wondering what was taking her so long to come in. He wondered why his rival kept him here, where the logic was in forcing him to gain a tremendous amount of weight and have such fierce abdominal pains in the last week.
That isn't part of the rework because I haven't gotten to that part yet. I'm wondering if I'll keep it in or take it out. I guess time will tell.
Thank you, Travis, for giving me something to write about today. :)

1 Butter Dips:
Glad to see you join in, but I can't take credit for the two line Tuesday idea. That goes to the women o f mystery blog. You should let them know you posted lines so they can link you.
